An Acacia tree that had threatened to destroy the gate of the residence belonging to one of Charming Baldemor’s patrons became a medium to preserve and highlight the distinct patterns of the Bagobo and Maranao tribes. These patterns can be found not only in the woodwork of the tribes, but also in their textile and metalwork as well. Moderno Etnika brings a new dimension to the traditional designs by making use of gold and silver leaf to highlight the timelessness of the patterns. Semi-precious stones and metal embellishments provide balanced accents and well-placed pops of color to the pieces belonging to this collection.
